Violence, bullying prevention program calls for more volunteers
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)- A program teaching local children to stop bullying is asking for more volunteers Wednesday night.
SPAVA has about 68 volunteers or mentors, but the program is in need of more.
The program stands for society for prevention of aggressiveness and violence among adolescents.
SPAVA was created by a neurosurgeon at Norton Healthcare, after the Heath High School shooting in Paducah, Ky.
The program is in a number of schools and is run by the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
