Natural resources student recognized

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored students in the College of Natural Resources. Pat Wherley, of International Falls, a graduate student in natural resources, received a $500 Musky Alliance of Wisconsin Mike James Memorial Scholarship. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2005 from UWSP in soil science and geographic information systems. A graduate of Falls High School, he is a member of UWSP’s Society of American Foresters student chapter and the Mid-Wisconsin chapter.

Kennedy receives UND scholarship

Kara Kennedy, of International Falls received the Community of Learners Scholarship Program from the University of North Dakota for the 2010-11 academic year. Kennedy, daughter of Keith and Sally Kennedy, graduated from Falls High School and plans to attend UND in the fall. The Community of Learners Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have shown exemplary achievement in both high school GPA and in test scores. This scholarship program is intended to honor and reward students who contribute to enhancing UND as vibrant and connected learners.

Horne Dunn named to UND honor rolls

Becky Horne Dunn, of Littlefork, was named to the University of North Dakota Dean’s List, the President’s Roll of Honor and the DJ Robertson List for spring semester 2010. The Dean’s List includes students whose grade point averages are in the top 15 percent of the enrollment in each of the university’s degree-granting colleges and schools. A student must have completed no fewer than 12 semester hours of academic work for the semester, of which eight or more hours must be graded work rather than “satisfactory/unsatisfactory.” To qualify for the President’s Roll of Honor, a student must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or higher. The student must also have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours and have completed a minimum of 12 hours at the close of the semester, eight of which must be for traditional letter grades.
